Humane Animal Rescue is a small rescue founded and run by Grace who spent over 10 years fostering dogs in several rescues in Melbourne and was sick of seeing dogs be treated inhumanely within the rescue environment.

HAR has no paid employees, we are run by dedicated volunteers and have received no government funding.

HAR is operated by a range of incredible volunteers who do data entry, admin, case management, events, transport and supported by our leadership team of Jez Winters, Keely Hamilton & Sarah Crowley.

This page is for our incredible volunteers to access with information about fostering & volunteering.

Click on the images to download our handbooks, these are jam packed with lots of information on how we work. Scroll down below to find extra resources on caring for dogs & cats.

Important - We know it's boring but please read the handbook, it's full of answers to your questions and useful information.

Supply Requests

The cost for rescuing and caring for animals often is double than what the adoption fee is, we strive to provide resources for our incredible foster carers, but don't often have the funds to do so. We fundraise and source donations with our donation bins at Pet Stocks and Pet Barns around Melbourne.
Because of this, we ask minimum one week and ideally two weeks of time to source the supplies you need. When you need supplies please message your case manager and tell them what brand & type you require and we will organise this for you.
We do not reimburse for purchases, please see the bottom of the page for our policies.
We really appreciate you being here, without our foster carers we cannot save animals.

Volunteers

Adoption days are typically once a month at various Pet Barns. Keep an eye on the Facebook Volunteer group for when these are.

Please see the volunteer handbook for more information on volunteering at events, adoption days or transporting.
